Undergraduate Programs (B.Des)
The Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program at Kerala State Institute of Design is a comprehensive undergraduate program affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The program is designed to nurture creative, innovative, and industry-ready designers by effectively blending theoretical knowledge with practical application. Postgraduate Program
The Post Graduate Diploma (PG Diploma) programs at KSID are advanced design programs aimed at developing highly skilled, innovative, and industry-ready design professionals. These programs are designed for graduates from diverse academic backgrounds who wish to build expertise in specialized design domains.
KSID offers PG Diploma programs in three major disciplines: Integrated Lifestyle Product Design, IT Integrated Communication Design, and Integrated Textile & Apparel Design. The programs are multidisciplinary in nature and focus on design fundamentals, research, user-centric approaches, and contemporary industry practices.
The curriculum follows a studio-centric and practice-led approach, combining classroom learning with hands-on studio work, workshops, seminars, and real-world projects. Students are trained in areas such as design thinking, ergonomics, materials and processes, visual communication, and interactive media, ensuring a holistic learning experience.
The PG Diploma program typically spans 2.5 years (5 semesters), including a final project or internship, enabling students to gain practical exposure and industry experience. With guidance from experienced faculty, exposure to industry collaborations, and access to advanced labs and workshops, students are prepared to address complex design challenges and contribute effectively to the creative industries.
Graduates of the program are equipped to pursue careers in product design, communication design, textile and apparel sectors, as well as in research, entrepreneurship, and advanced design studies.
