The eagerly awaited National Design Fest 2024 was held by the Kerala State Institute of Design (KSID) at the SN Cultural Complex in Asramam, Kollam, from December 17 to 19. The event created a vibrant forum for creative exchange, bringing together renowned individuals, design experts, students, and enthusiasts.
The festival was inaugurated by Shri. K N Balagopal, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, with Dr. Pradyumna Vyas, President-Elect of the World Design Organization, as the distinguished Guest of Honor. Mr. Mukesh delivered a presidential address during the event. Smt. Prasanna Earnest, Mayor of Kollam, inaugurated a captivating design exhibition featuring a variety of innovative student and professional designs.
Throughout the festival, a series of insightful panel discussions explored key topics such as “Design Education,” “Design in Cinema,” “Women in Design,” and “Creative Economy and Industry.” These discussions, which examined the intersections of design with various fields, were led by prominent figures such as director Rajiv Anchal.
Additionally, the festival hosted a range of interactive workshops, offering attendees the chance to enhance their skills in areas like UI/UX design, clay modelling, acrylic art, and bamboo design. Competitions like the Creators’ Showdown, Short Film Festival, and Photography Contest showcased the creativity and originality of emerging filmmakers and designers.
The festival masterfully blended innovation and entertainment, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all. Alongside intellectual and artistic activities, the event featured lively cultural performances, including a stunning fashion show and a spirited performance by the band Calipokuts.
KSID’s National Design Fest 2024 was a resounding success, providing a dynamic platform for collaboration, innovation, and learning, while reaffirming the institute’s commitment to advancing design excellence.
